The New Year is symbolic of new opportunities and beginnings, a time to release and let go of the past; a time of motivation, to make change, try something new, and take charge of ourselves to feel better mentally, physically, and emotionally.

A vital ingredient to feel better and regain control of life is awareness: to live in the present moment, to live more mindfully! One of the best yet simplest tools to begin a practice of mindfulness is through mindful breath awareness. You can practice it anywhere at any time to improve every aspect of your life. Mindful breath awareness is part of most meditations to integrate the mind and the body as one. Every new beginning is only a breath away.

Instead of making a New Year’s resolution, set a New Year’s intention to live a more mindful life. Try to “just pause” several times a day by taking three slow deep breaths. As you integrate mindfulness into your daily routine, it will almost automatically maximize all other areas of your life. Maybe even start to resolve those old New Year resolutions that didn’t last.

Welcome in the New Year with a slow deep breath as you strengthen your present moment awareness to maximize your authentic presence to shine throughout the rest of the year.
